The Progenitor of Filipino Identity: The First Modern Bayani
What made José Rizal stand out was how he stirred people’s minds instead of calling for war. When voices across the Philippines were suppressed by colonial control, his learning became a tool - his books, sharp words, quiet bravery cutting through silence. Ideas took root because he spoke plainly about wrongs buried deep in everyday life. Change started not with noise but with clarity, honesty, and in accepting your identity
Stories like Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo showed how power was twisted under Spanish rule, especially by corrupt priests and those in charge. Not just pointing at wrongs, they stirred people to see their worth while doubting old wounds passed off as normal. Words on pages became quiet sparks - later turning into louder demands for change, guiding minds who would lead struggles ahead.
Freedoms take root where learning grows, Rizal knew. Wakefulness among people keeps liberty alive, he argued. Change without violence mattered deeply to him. Duty to community shaped his vision just as much as fairness did. Rights held evenly across citizens formed a quiet backbone of his ideals. A country moving toward self-rule found early compass points in his thinking.
Only after he was gone did people truly see him. His silence spoke louder than words ever could. What started as quiet resistance became something much bigger when he died. Standing by what mattered most cost him everything. That moment changed how Filipinos saw themselves. A single life gave rise to a shared belief in their strength. They began to understand they were capable of more. The idea of belonging to one another took root because of him.

Simplicity is Not a Bad Thing: An Autobiographical Description All my life I've been driven to push forward devoid of emotion under many circumstances. But the truth? Living my life with simplicity was the best option. In primary school, one of the many stages of life, I was consistently the best, pushed to become overly-objective, and thus I was quiet. As a new stage of life came about, I changed, I lived my life simply, and learned social skills. The transition was uncomfortable but it was worth it, I take pride in that manner. Throughout my time in grade 8, I found people I could treasure and befriend, so far, considered as the warmest part of my life. I had lost some of my passion in studying, but it was simple and lively. Today, as a grade 10 student, I hope to do my all while living in simplicity. I wish to review and participate to make up for previous years. I am used to my family expecting much from me, but, it's normal. I ...
