The Last Dance: Clinging to the Guns N' Roses of Academics

The Last Dance: Clinging to the Guns N' Roses of Academics

This years Valentine's day was nothing short of remarkable, and, as always, memorable. A Valentine's not just filled with love, but also brimming with joy, achievement, and the lasting thought that the fiber of my being was enough in the context of academics. This day was coincided with the 3rd quarter recognition of this school year - a convergence that serves more meaning than perceived at a shallow level. Valentine's was not just a day for romance, my day was accompanied with pure family time going to the recognition, and at home.

This year, Valentine’s Day didn’t sparkle with roses or drama. Instead, something quieter took shape - a recognition blooming not between couples but in kitchen conversations and quick texts from siblings. Noticeable in the air was a kind of thankfulness, soft but steady. Moments piled up: a parent saving a newspaper clipping, a cousin showing up unannounced just to laugh at old memories. Each one whispered how care hides inside consistency. Not every bond shouts; some simply stay, listen, nod. Praise isn’t always spoken loud - it lives also in knowing someone notices your effort. Being seen matters more than gifts. Love lingers in daily acts disguised as routine.

There I stood, during the ceremony, feeling how every late night and early start had led to this. Clapping filled the room. Teachers grinned. My family's faces lit up in ways words can’t quite capture. Victory didn’t sit alone - it came hand in hand with those who pushed me forward. Their belief, their quiet help, their giving up things so I could keep going - that shaped it too.
